Indian style fried fish

INDIAN STYLE FRIED FISH

Gently spiced with turmeric and garam masala, these crispy fried fish fillets are simple to prepare and taste fantastic!

Serve with salad, rice or other Indian inspired dishes.  They go really well with Indian Style Eggplant Puree and rice.

Ingredients


1 lb firm fish fillets (like Alaskan Rockfish)
3 tbs plain flour
3 tbs besan (chickpea flour)
1 ½ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp garam masala
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 beaten egg
Vegetable oil or Ghee for frying fish

Instructions



  • Prepare fish fillets - wash, dry and take skin off.
  • Mix flour, chickpea flour, salt, garam masala and turmeric together on a dinner plate.
  • Add enough oil or ghee to deep frying pan to about ⅓ the depth of fish fillets.  Heat oil or ghee until hot (but not burning!).
  • Dip fillets in beaten egg, then coat with flour mix.
  • Fry fish until golden brown.
  • Drain on absorbent paper towel and serve immediately.
